Visa Information

Student Authorization and Visa:

Indian students must obtain a Student Authorization and Visa before studying in Canada, meeting the requirements of the Canadian Immigration Act and Regulations. Allow two to six weeks for visa processing under normal circumstances.

Proof Of Funds:

Applicants must demonstrate sufficient financial resources to cover tuition fees, living expenses, and support dependents in Canada. Living expenses are estimated at around CDN 10,500 per year.

Medical Examination:

The Canadian high commission will issue medical instructions, requiring students and accompanying dependants to pass a medical examination at approved panel doctors.

Post-Graduate Work Permit Program:

Under the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program, international students who graduate and obtain a Canadian qualification can obtain a three-year open work permit to work for any Canadian employer in any industry, without needing a Canadian job offer at the time of application.

Set 1:

  • Study Permit application form & study questionnaire
  • Visa Fee
  • Current Passport
  • Application form (two recent, original passport-sized photos attached)
  • Personal Information Form
  • Student Questionnaire
  • Use of a Representative form (IMM 5476) if applicable
  • For Quebec-bound students: Copy of Certificat d’acceptation du Québec-CAQ

Set 2:

  • IELTS test results taken within the last 24 months with an overall band not less than 5.5
  • Photocopy of the most recent diploma or leaving certificate, and 2008/2009 mark sheets
  • Do not provide additional documents unless requested by a visa officer
  • Interview may be required; students will be advised in writing of the time and place
  • Medical Examination: Follow medical instructions issued by the Canadian high commission; students and dependants must pass a medical examination at approved panel doctors, with no other concerns with the application

Set 3:

  • Copy of all receipts for payment provided by the Canadian educational institution (pre-payment of the first term is recommended)
  • Copy of Educational Loan from an Indian Chartered Bank equivalent to at least 80% of tuition + living + travel expenses for one academic year (normally, the first year’s tuition plus $8000)
  • Do not provide additional documents unless requested by a visa officer
  • Interview may be required; students will be advised in writing of the time and place
  • Medical Examination: Follow medical instructions issued by the Canadian high commission; students and dependants must pass a medical examination at approved panel doctors, with no other concerns with the application
